Day Two
Randy "Recondo" Letts passing a pylon
while leaving the Neebish Island Ferry Dock.
Entering the Neebish Island
Rock Cut just after the Neebish Island Ferry Dock. The West Neebish Island
Channel (Rock Cut) is about 300 feet wide in the down bound lane, with room
enough for a freighter and a couple of yaks. The mile long leg, seemed a
little dangerous, because of the possibility of a southbound freighter.
However the walls have areas of escape for a couple of kayakers every few
hundred feet.
Most of us traveled very near the east wall of the rock cut to provide shelter
from the wind.
There was quite a head wind throughout day two.
Pictured is a "raft" break while we cross Munuscong Lake.
After a short break on Winter Point, we headed
for Rocky Point. Pictured is a small navigation light with an Eagle's Nest
on top. The trip across Munuscong Lake proved very difficult due to persistent
headwind.
