ICE HIKES
COMPLETED

(Outing)

Well, there is nothing like driving 45 minutes to a popular summer beach. But, doing it in the winter.

Ice hikes are awesome. On early weekend mornings you get up when most of the world is still in bed. As they lounge like winter slugs in their cottony pajamas and sticky skin, you are strapping down gear. When they are looking out the window thinking, "I should do something today" you are putting on goggles and securing a rope to yourself in case of a rouge crevasse. When you finally get back home after a few hours, they have just showered and are ready to do something - you are ready for a shower and a nap.

Moreover, the big lakes are scarier, more mysterious and much, much bigger in the winter. In a way, they are menacing and peaceful at the same time. The perfect irony.
